This exhibition invites visitors on a nostalgic journey through Southend’s vibrant entertainment heritage. From the early promotion of Southend as a destination to improve one’s health and wellbeing, to a thriving seaside escape for east Londoners, Southend has always been home to a creative cultural landscape and a charismatic entertainment trade.

Kiss Me Quick celebrates the bright lights and bustling amusements, local theatres, bandstands and cinemas, and the iconic Kursaal in the evolution of this exuberant city. Through objects, photography, sounds and ephemera, Kiss Me Quick will consider the many places and spaces that make Southend on Sea so special.

Tickets will be available at Southend Central Museum front desk and are priced at £4.50 adults £2.50 children.

Annual tickets are available for £12.50 adults £6.50 children
