The changing face of a seaside resort from the 1700s to 1950
In partnership with Southend Adult Community College, enjoy a free series of talks and uncover Southend's lesser known past! Discover Southend's transformation through the years and hear untold stories that were not in the town's marketing materials...

Dates of the talks
- Wednesday 24th May, 2pm – Southend from the 1750s to the 1850s
- Wednesday 31st May, 2pm – Southend from the 1850s to 1900
- Saturday 10th June, 11am – Southend from 1900 to 1950
Each talk will be 1 hour in total and will include a 40-minute talk uncovering the history of Southend, followed by 20 minutes of exploring objects from Southend Museums' collections.
The talks will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Beecroft Art Gallery.
We recommend these lectures for ages 14years +
Please note, to keep these lectures free and fulfill Southend Adult Community College's funding requirements we will ask all attendees to complete a short enrollment before the start fo the talk.
