Call for Artists - 59th Essex Open Art Exhibition

Beecroft Art Gallery

The 59th Essex Open will be taking place between Saturday 7th October and Sunday 31st December.

The event is open to any artist, over the age of 16 living or working in Essex (including those London boroughs formerly part of Essex).

We will be inviting entries to be brought to the Beecroft from Wednesday 9th August with the submission period closing at 4.30pm on Sunday 10th September.

Conditions for entry

Entry fees: £10 one entry, £15 two entries, £20 three entries.
Please Note: Entry fees are non-refundable

Works submitted may be paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture (including ceramics).
Watercolours and drawings must be glazed.

Frames must have no hooks or projections at the back. Metal frames must have the appropriate fixings.

All works must be of a size and weight that is manoeuvrable by two people and must fit standard doorways.

No artist may enter more than 3 works

All works must be clearly marked on the back (or on a label attached to 3-dimensional works) with the following:
i) Name & address of artist
ii) Title & medium of work as they are to appear in the catalogue
iii) Price of work if for sale or approximate insurance value if marked NFS.

On delivery of works each entry will be designated a number which will correspond with an entry form filled in onsite following entry payment.

The submitted works will be selected by Sarah DeMelo Curator (ESCALA - Essex Collection of Latin American Art, Art and Special Collections) Essex University.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories
£500 Best Oil or Acrylic
£500 Best Watercolour/Printmaking/Drawing
£500 Best 3D/Mix Media work
£500 Best Photograph
People's Choice Award sponsored by Southend Adult Community College

You will be informed of this decision by email and if successful you will receive an invite the exhibition private view that will take place on Friday 6th October.

Unsuccessful entries not collected within one month may be disposed of at the Curator's discretion.
