Old Board Games

Here, over the next few weeks, we will be adding details of some of the traditional board games that visitors to the central Museum have been able to play. As well as the rules, th ere will be files for you to download and print off the boards at home if you wish - or you can draw out your own boards!

You can use glass nuggets as pieces, as we often have here at the Museum, and laminate the boards, too.

Here are the first three games - more will follow soon...

Tablut

An old board game, popular with the Scandinavians!

Fox and Geese

Another popular old game, known from around 1300AD

Hnafltafl

A larger game than Tablut, played by the Vikings!
